Neal Dulin Rolls Into Vegas With Wins As Both Racer & Coach

LAS VEGAS, NV. -- Photos By Molly Lane -- Neal Dulin continues to emerge as one of the most dependable young racers in the INEX Legend Car division. Between sweeping both feature races at Atlanta Motorsports Park, charging from the tail to a top-five result at the Nashville Fairgrounds, and coaching a young driver to a major Thanksgiving weekend victory, Dulin has created undeniable momentum heading into his next challenge: the Silver State Road Course Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

For the 15-year-old racer from Concord, North Carolina, the run at Atlanta Motorsports Park set the tone for the stretch, beginning with speed right off the trailer. He topped the practice charts, qualified on pole, and showed complete command of the AMP layout.

In the first feature, teammate Cash LeCroy stayed glued to his bumper for all eight laps, taking a swing at the lead on the white-flag lap in turn one. When LeCroy overcooked the corner, Dulin crossed him over in his No. 79 machine and held on for the win.

The second feature, shortened to three laps due to fading daylight, delivered even more drama. At the start, third-place Keaton Harbison forced a three-wide move that nearly collected the entire lead group. Dulin and LeCroy survived it, but the loss of momentum allowed LeCroy to grab the early lead. With two laps to go, Dulin used a strong run off the final corner to reclaim the top spot into turn one and never looked back, completing the sweep.

“I can’t thank the guys at 860 Motorsports enough for giving me a rocket ship,” Dulin said. “I’m grateful for my mom and dad and for the opportunity God has given me to chase my dreams.”

The Nashville Fairgrounds brought a different kind of test. Against a 20-car field, Dulin posted top-five speed in practice and qualified fifth, just missing the balance he needed for a top-three starting spot. The feature was a stop-and-go affair, with more caution laps than green-flag racing. Despite the chaos, Dulin drove from fifth to second before getting trapped on the outside during a restart and slipping back to fourth.

After working his way to third, contact from behind sent him back up the racetrack, and a competitor clipped his left-rear tire the next lap, spinning him out. Sent to the tail in 21st for the restart, Dulin put his head down and methodically worked forward.

By the finish, he had climbed back to fifth, later credited with fourth after post-race inspection.

“Given all the cautions and everything that happened, I’m happy with how we fought back,” Dulin said. “We’ll regroup and get ready for Vegas.”

Away from his own car, Dulin earned a meaningful win as a driver coach. Bandolero Outlaw competitor Corbin Cannon, who trains under Neal’s guidance, scored a major victory during the Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Motorsports Park. The result was an important milestone for Cannon and a proud moment for Dulin, who has become increasingly involved in developing younger racers.

"It means so much to me to be able to give back to the sport that gives me so much joy," the driver said. "I was so happy for Corbin to get that win in front of the crowd at a big race like that. He did a great job.  I really enjoy working with the younger racers, and it's humbling to watch them go out and win and to know that you've had a small part in that success."

Now, Dulin turns his attention to Nevada, where he will tackle the Las Vegas Motor Speedway road course for Round One of the Silver State Road Course Series, December 5 through 7. His recent performances, along with the lessons learned in Nashville’s heavy traffic and Atlanta’s tight battles, give him strong momentum heading into the west-coast swing.

With race wins, comeback drives, and coaching successes all stacking up, the past few weeks have shown just how far Dulin has come — and how much potential lies ahead as he continues his climb through the sport.
